maracaná de tepito
Tepito, a very famous and popular neighborhood in Mexico City, has a church called La Iglesia de San Francisco de Asís. It's been there for almost 300 years, surrounded by a chaotic street market. Every October 4th, there's a big celebration for the church's saint, San Francisco. The adjacent football field, known as Maracaná de Tepito, gets in on the fun with all-day football games and boxing matches that draw huge crowds. I got to go shoot some photos of a couple of the football games and all the excitement around them. I brought my 1992 Canon A2e and two rolls of film (Fuji400 and Kodak400TX). It's a really unique experience walking through the market to find the church and the field. My favorite game to photograph was one played by seniors, all around 65 years old.
